Health Insurance

OSHC

All international students must maintain adequate health insurance covering the entire duration of their stay in Australia. The applicant and all included family members must be covered by Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) from an approved health insurance provider.

We are partnered with health insurance providers such as Allianz, Bupa and AHM to provide you with a best health cover at a highly competitive price.

Health Insurance

OVHC

If you are holding a work visa or traveling for a short stay, you need to have this cover, known as the OVHC. Visa categories covered by this policy are visitor visas (subclasses 300, 580, 590, 600, 601), bridging visas, working visas (subclasses 482, 485, 400,401, 476, 489, etc) and working holiday visas (subclasses 417 & 462).

If you are international student applying for your Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485), you will need to switch from OSHC to OVHC to meet the health requirements.

The different types of OVHC policies differ in costs, eligibility, and benefits. Most of these policies will cover medically required hospital admissions and a part of the GP’s fees.

You can pay the OVHC cover on a monthly basis.

Skill assessments

A positive skill assessment is a mandatory part of skilled migration under the general skilled migration and employer sponsor visa programs in Australia. Skill assessment refers to assessing an applicant’s qualification and/or work experience against the suitability of a nominated occupation.

There are different assessing bodies to assess the suitability of different occupations. Each assessing body have its own assessment methods, procedures, processing times, and charges.

Some occupations required you to demonstrate work experience upon completion of the degree or qualification while for others it may be not mandatory.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain the required skills assessment.

Some of the visas that require positive skill assessment are,

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482)

Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494)

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186)

Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) – Points-tested stream

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
